The question on the table is what kind of a Democratic Party is going to govern the House of Representatives. Will it be progressive? Or moderate? Will it pursue ? Will it repeal the ? How bold will its agenda be? 2/

The answer to these questions depends in large part on the shape of the leadership of the Democratic caucus in the House. And there are negotiations going on right now to figure out who will be in leadership and who will key committee seats. 3/

Here are the three things that I think need to happen in order for the House to deliver the kind of governance that America and our movement deserve. 4/

1. @NancyPelosi should again be Speaker. Her Speakership from '07 to '11 was the most progressive & effective in decades. She is a highly skilled organizer & strategist with good values. But to earn my support, she needs to give progressives the power that we have earned. 5/

2. We need House leadership that includes progressives & that gives black women power proportionate to their contribution. That's why it's crucial that be in leadership. To me, this is non-negotiable. She is an American hero. 6/

3. The caucus should be given power proportionate to its size within the party. If progressives deliver 90+ votes to @NancyPelosi, they must be treated as true governing partners. Crucial committee seats would allow them to pursue a bold legislative agenda. 7/

The progressive movement deserves a progressive Democratic Party. I am eager to support a progressive leadership slate that includes @NancyPelosi and . I believe the rest of the progressive movement shares this sentiment. And we are ready to fight for it. /end

BRAVO, Ady! This is the best, and most considered and thoughtful, expression of a progressive solution that I’ve seen.

Agree with your thread. Nancy should stay. Hoyer and Clyburn should be replaced so thenew leadership can be mentored by Nancy!

But (looking to replace Clyburn) is no Progressive. Few accomplishments in a long tenure from a super safe district.
