Oh I recognise the grey areas pal! And I’ve never said that manual therapy doesnt work, I said exercise is more effective and efficient (eg self directed, >volume, force, TUT, < cost/time) But it makes it easier for others to misrepresent my position to attack it!

Their is NO way can we differentiate what tissue is stiff in any joint... we can only observe a loss of ROM! And exercise and movement are the most effective and efficient way to improve a loss of ROM... not manual therapy... in my humble biased and dogmatic opinion!

Thats exactly what I am referring too! However, physios do need to first recognise something doesn’t look, sound, or feel quite right and recognise that as a red flag and refer on!

Many physios tend to avoid their patients from shrugging... I tend to encourage it! 🤷‍♂️ Building upper traps strength and endurance is a great way to help many neck and shoulder issues! 👍 There are many ways to do this but the monkey shrug is one of my favourites 🐵

Is it time to ✋🏻 STOP 🛑 stretching hip ‘tight’ flexors? 👉🏻 perhaps strength-conditioning is the antidote 💪🏻 Iliopsoas, TFL & sartorius muscle size was LARGER in ballet dancers compared to athletes. 🤕 Iliopsoas muscle CSA was smaller in painful hip
