I joined (& Rutland) Trust a couple of weeks ago. Membership pack has arrived and I am really happy I signed up. Membership would make a great for someone local who is hard to buy for!

To all I know and love and many more! I have decided not to send Christmas cards this year. Instead I have, through a donation to the Woodland Trust, planted a tree for each member of my family- I reckon that's 17 so i made it up to 30 as commitment to the environment.

Great to have a few days in north Cornwall to revive my tree soul. Cornish elm, windswept hawthorn and oak on Bodmin moor and Cork oak at a more sheltered Cotehele. Marvelous!

This endangered marsh tit was ringed this week in an ancient wood in the path of HS2. Half this wood will be destroyed to make way for the high speed rail route.
