Stay safe during the heatwave. Open your windows, but where the sun shines through, close your curtains or shutters if possible. This way you get fresh air in but keep the warm sun out.

Whilst we don't use our boiler as much in the warmer months, it's important to keep an eye on it to prevent breakdowns in the winter. A quick check is to look at the water pressure gauge and ensure it's between 1 – 1.5 bar. If not, you should call an engineer take a look.

Summer is a great time to install a new boiler. You less likely to need the boiler while it is being replaced – particularly if you have an electric shower and there will be less demand for engineers during this period, allowing you to get the replacement done quickly.

If you're thinking of turning your boiler off during the summer, you should always make sure to run your central heating for a few minutes once a month to keep the system in working order. This will help prevent it seizing up when you come to power it back up in the autumn!

Whilst we still have more time at home, if you have a loft, use this time to give your loft a clear out. If you de-clutter your loft, it will help ensure your your loft insulation is working at its best! Meaning any heat your central heating generates isn't wasted!

Top tip: clean down the back of your radiators wherever possible as dust on the columns prevents the heat from flowing freely and making your radiators work harder than they need to!

You don't need to turn your boiler off this summer to save on your heating bills. Turn the hot water temperature down, as you don't need the water to be as hot when it's warmer outside!
