Here’s something I’ve seen discussed, and something I think most Looney Tunes products in the past 30 years get the MOST wrong: the Looney Tunes characters are NOT FRIENDS. Unlike Disney’s Mickey and his pals, the WB characters are not supposed to be buddies or a team. (cont)

I remember working on season one of Wabbit and coming to the conclusion that the Looney Tunes have/will never work as an ensemble cast. Since their energy levels and egos are all so similar, they cancel each other out, and dynamics fall apart. Things get muddy.

I just talked about this with my coworkers yesterday; unlike Disney characters, who are actually living in real situations they get themselves in, the Looney Tunes are actors who are very self aware. They’re putting on a show, addressing the audience, playing broad.

I remember that one scene in Space Jam where Bugs, Porky, Daffy, Elmer & Sylvester are discussing how to deal with the aliens before they decide on a basketball game, and I remember as a kid feeling “this seems off”. It’s like a crossover; interesting in concept, odd in execution
