It's time for important policies like a peace officer’s duty to intervene to be more than just recommendations. We're ready for them to be the law of the land. At CADOJ, we're committed to partnering with our legislators & stakeholders across the state to help get the job done.

Americans across the nation demand more accountability in our criminal justice system. It's going to take sustained, thoughtful reform like Assembly Bill 1022 to help answer the call.

Section 187 of the CA Penal Code was intended to protect pregnant women from harm, not charge them with murder. We will work on ending the prosecution and imprisonment of Ms. Becker, so we can focus on applying this law to those who put the lives of pregnant women in danger.

NEW: We've just filed an amicus brief in support of Chelsea Becker, a woman wrongfully charged with murder after delivering a stillborn child. California law has been misused to the detriment of women, children, and families.

Today we're in court seeking to halt & 's misclassification of workers while litigation continues. Uber & Lyft are profiting off of their workers' labor while trying to force taxpayers to foot the bill for worker protections. That’s not the way we do business in CA.

We oppose 's rule weakening protections for workers saving for retirement. DOL touts its new rules as improving investment advice. That couldn't be further from the truth. We won't accept this attempt to roll out the red carpet for financial firms to profit at our expense

The spread of hate and disinformation on social media puts our democracy and decades of advocacy by Black Americans, Latinos, the LGBTQ community, people with disabilities, & many others at risk. If Facebook truly wants to be a place that brings people together, it must do more.

We're calling on Facebook to use some of its vast resources to fight hate speech & disinformation on its platform. Without further action by Facebook, the platform will continue to be a place where people can dehumanize and demean others with little consequence.

That’s why we’re demanding the withdraw its irresponsible time-barred debt rule and replace it with a proposal that actually helps consumers. Hardworking families are struggling enough.

Navigating debt collection is already confusing, complicated and stressful for consumers struggling to make ends meet. And as the economic toll of mounts, the last thing we need is to put Americans further at the mercy of predatory debt-collectors.

Servicers that violate the law may face legal action by the California Department of Justice. During times like these we rely on the law to provide a safeguard for families who are at risk of losing their homes.

We sent a letter to mortgage servicers reminding them of their obligations to CA homeowners & tenants under the CA Homeowner Bill of Rights. As we face an economic crisis, many families are falling behind on their mortgage payments.
