Another thing to look at: solderless header. It used to be easier to find but adafruit sells some (2x26 meant for raspberry pi). The insertion ends are bowed slightly to allow contact, and the header can be removed easily with pliers when you’re done.

Thanks for the recommendation I will buy them for future projects. This hot glue gun was a work around that worked quite well.

Be careful with small components that could be ripped apart from the PCB when removing the glue. This is really important.
