Yeah this works as well if it's really a component wrapper that renders an svg. You can then host it on a CDN and reference the url in frontmatter. Frontmatter is indeed not an MDX thing, though it is natively supported in gatsby-plugin-mdx.

Where your layout has some map: const TitleComponent = titleComponents[frontmatter.titleComponent] and rendering in layout: {TitleComponent ? <TitleComponent /> : <GatsbyImage {....stuff} />}

I'd prolly opt for having a special frontmatter field that your layout knows to render instead of a standard title image. --- titleComponent: MySpecialComponentName ---
